Must-see stops on the tour
1. Historic Center of Embrun
A former archbishopric and fortified city dating back to the Middle Ages, Embrun preserves an exceptional heritage: the Notre-Dame du Réal Cathedral, the Brune Tower, the Maison des Chanonges, and the archbishopric gardens. A stopover rich in architectural discoveries.
2. Mont-Dauphin Stronghold
A masterpiece by Vauban, the Mont-Dauphin stronghold is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Designed in 1692 to defend the region against invasions, it today offers a unique example of French military architecture.

3. Town of Briançon
Also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Briançon impresses with its ramparts, fortified gates, and lively alleyways. The famous Grande Gargouille, a central street lined with canals, adds to the charm of this town perched at an altitude of 1,326 m.

4. Col de l’Izoard
A legendary Alpine road, the Col de l’Izoard culminates at 2,360 m. Its famous “Casse Déserte,” a lunar setting with spectacular scree, is ranked among the most remarkable natural landscapes in the world. A must-see for lovers of driving and panoramic views.

5. Fort Queyras
Built in the Middle Ages and then reinforced by Vauban, Fort Queyras dominates the Guil Valley. Its imposing ramparts and strategic location make it an impressive site steeped in history.
6. Siguret Lake
On the way back, stop at Siguret Lake, nestled in a peaceful setting. Its waters reflect the surrounding peaks, offering an ideal natural break after a day dedicated to heritage.
