Road trip dans les Alpes du Sud : le Queyras, terre authentique

Discovering a Preserved Territory

The third stop on this itinerary takes you to the Queyras Regional Natural Park, a high-mountain region renowned for its authenticity and unspoiled character. Here, villages seem frozen in time, traditions are passed down from generation to generation, and nature expresses itself in all its grandeur.

From the vertiginous Guil Gorges to the picturesque streets of Saint-Véran, passing through high passes where the gaze is lost on majestic peaks, each stop is an invitation to slow down, contemplate, and savor the richness of this unique massif. Between local crafts, mineral landscapes, and natural springs, this day combines the pleasure of the road with the discovery of an exceptional heritage.

Unmissable stages of the tour

1. Guil Gorges

Carved into the rock, the Guil Gorges are impressive for their dizzying depth (up to 400 m). The narrow, winding road that crosses them is a delight for driving enthusiasts and a spectacular introduction to Queyras.

2. House of Crafts

In the heart of Queyras, the House of Crafts showcases local expertise: woodworking, gourmet products, and traditional creations. A vibrant space that reflects the soul of the region.

3. Village of Saint-Véran (2,040 m)

Listed among the Most Beautiful Villages of France, Saint-Véran is also the highest inhabited village in Europe. Its wood and stone houses, its communal oven, and its sundials tell the story of a community that has preserved its traditions.

4. Col Agnel (2,744 m)

The third highest road pass in Europe, the Col Agnel marks the border between France and Italy. At this altitude, the panoramas are magnificent, with unobstructed views of Monte Viso and the Alpine peaks.
