Road trip in the Southern Alps: around Lake Serre-Ponçon

A day between water and mountains

The second stop on this itinerary takes you around Lake Serre-Ponçon, an inland sea nestled in the heart of the Southern Alps. Born from the encounter between human engineering and the power of the mountains, this lake is today a true scenic gem, where the turquoise water contrasts with the Alpine landscape.

All along the route, panoramas follow one another: villages rebuilt after the dam was filled, unique geological curiosities, spectacular viewpoints, and heritage sites testifying to local history. Between contemplation, cultural discoveries, and gourmet breaks, this day around Serre-Ponçon combines diversity and wonder. An itinerary that reveals all the richness of this region where water and mountains constantly interact.
